Better than hearing aids
Adults:
A cochlear implant can help deliver significant improvements in your hearing when compared with hearing aids. In a multi center clinical study, adults tested demonstrated a significantly better hearing performance in both quiet and noise after receiving their Nucleus Cochlear Implant (See figure 2). When tested in quiet, Nucleus Cochlear Implant recipients demonstrated a 62% improvement at three months and 71% at 12 months when compared to hearing aids. 18
Children:
A cochlear implant can help deliver crucial improvements in your child’s hearing when compared to hearing aids. In a recent Nucleus study, children tested showed a significant improvement in just three months after receiving their Freedom cochlear implant (See figure 2).19
The tests conducted were structured parent interview questionnaires, called IT-MAIS (Infant Toddler Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale) and MAIS (Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale). These tests allowed the parents to answer questions on their child's auditory skill development.
Recent study results indicate that children who are implanted before the age of 18 months and who receive appropriate habilitation have a greater potential to develop spoken language skills equal to or close to normal hearing peers by the time they enter kindergarten (See figure 2). 19
Better with Dual microphone zoom technology
